How to set up a QR code for wedding photos
A QR code on each table lets guests send you the photos they take during the day. Setting it up takes a few minutes. Getting guests to use it depends on where you put the code and how you ask.
- Create the album a week or more before the wedding and test it with a few friends.
- Print one QR card per table and one larger sign at the entrance or bar.
- Keep the wording to one line and say that no app is needed.
- Have someone announce it once guests are seated.
Step 1: Create the album
Go to picsylo.com, create an album with your names and wedding date, and choose a plan. For a full wedding the Standard plan is the better fit ($19.99, 10 GB, 30 days, live slideshow and Google Drive export). For a small ceremony or a rehearsal dinner the Mini plan ($9.99, 2 GB, 7 days) is enough.
You get a link and a QR code straight away. Both lead to the same album.
Step 2: Print the QR cards
Pick a card design in Picsylo and download it. A few printing tips:
- Size. Make the QR code itself at least 3 cm (about 1.2 in) wide on table cards, and at least 10 cm on a sign that guests scan from a step away.
- Contrast. Dark code on a light background scans most reliably. Avoid glossy lamination under spotlights, because glare stops cameras from reading the code.
- Quiet zone. Leave a clear margin around the code. Do not let flowers or frames cover the corners.
- Test the print. Scan the printed card with an iPhone and an Android phone before you print the full set.
Step 3: Write one clear line
Guests should understand what to do at a glance. Wording that works:
- “Share your photos with us. Scan, upload, done. No app needed.”
- “Help us see the day through your eyes. Scan to add your photos and videos.”
- “Took a great photo? Scan here so we get it too.”
Mention that no app or sign-up is needed. That single detail removes the most common reason people hesitate.
Step 4: Put the code where people pause
- Dinner tables. The best spot, because guests sit with their phones for a long time.
- The bar and the photo corner. People wait there and already have their phones out.
- The welcome sign. Good for awareness, though few people stop to upload on the way in.
- The venue screen. Show the code between slideshow photos so guests see both the result and how to join.
- After the wedding. Send the link in your thank-you message, so guests who did not upload on the night can do it from home.
Step 5: Tell people
Ask the MC, DJ or a friend to say it out loud once everyone is seated: what the code is, that it takes ten seconds and that no app is needed. If you run the live slideshow, guests see their photos appear on the screen, which prompts others to join in.
Step 6: Save everything afterwards
When the party is over, download the full album as a ZIP in original quality, or export it to Google Drive (Standard plan). The Standard album stays open for 30 days and the Mini album for 7, so late uploads still arrive. Download before the window closes, or extend the album if you want it online for longer.
Common problems and how to avoid them
- Weak signal at the venue. Ask the venue for the guest Wi-Fi details and print them on the same card. Guests can also upload later from home using the same code.
- Older guests. Scanning with the normal camera app is usually familiar by now. Ask a younger relative at each table to help once.
- Photos you would rather not show. As host you can hide or delete any upload, and co-hosts can help moderate during the event.
- Too many photos to browse. Guests can use face search: they take a selfie and see the photos they appear in.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a QR code for my wedding photos?
Create an album on Picsylo, download the QR card it generates and print it for your tables. Guests scan the code with their phone camera and upload photos from the browser.
Where should I put the QR code at the wedding?
On every dinner table, at the bar and on a sign near the entrance. Tables work best because guests sit there with their phones for a long time.
Do guests need an app or an account?
No. With Picsylo the album opens in the phone browser and guests upload without signing up.
Can guests upload after the wedding?
Yes. The album stays open for 7 days on the Mini plan and 30 days on the Standard plan, so guests can upload from home with the same code or link.
Can we show guest photos on a screen during the reception?
Yes. The Standard plan includes a live slideshow that shows new uploads on a TV or projector, and the host can hide photos before they appear.
